Overlooking the pebble beach in the beautiful fishing village of Cromane, Jacks’ is an old coastguard station, set on an idyllic shingle beach nestled in the Atlantic ocean with panoramic views of the McGillicuddy Reeks, Inch Beach and Rossbeigh Peninsula.Cromane is attractively situated eight kilometres west of Killorglin and six kilometres from Glenbeigh, just off the N70 Ring of Kerry. It is 30km from Killarney and minutes away from Dooks.

The Coastguard Station building where Jacks’ is located dates back to 1866. A local School teacher named John Sugrue purchased the building in 1961 and it became the inn, “Jack Sugrues”, under which name it is still known today. In June 2006 Jacks’ was taken over by Brian and Grainne Keary. Today, at Jacks’ you will be greeted by owner, Brian Keary who will instantly put you at ease with his genuine and fun nature. JP Murphy will entertain you on the piano and the courteous bar and waiting staff will cater for your every need.

Cromane is famous for its Mussels and Oysters harvested from one of the richest and purest shellfish grounds in Europe. In 2023 Jacks’ was featured in celebrity Chef Neven Maguire’s Greenway Food Trail programme where he visited Cromane, went to see the world famous mussel and oyster beds and visited Jacks’ to sample some mouthwatering local fish dishes.

The station bar remains unchanged and offers visitors a traditional pub atmosphere and a glimpse of the history of this unique building.
